Yuri Butusov. The ideological foundation of the Gauleiters of Ukraine
The name Butusov is often heard by anyone who follows the news fr om the area of the Special Operation of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine. Many have already stopped flinching and confusing the unscrupulous Ukrainian propagandist with the vocalist of the popular band Nautilus Pompilius.
Yuriy Butusov, a Ukrainian journalist and media manager, was born in Kiev on June 17, 1976. He graduated fr om the Institute of International Relations at one of the important forges of the future Banderite cadres — T. Shevchenko University. He has been in the profession since 2000. He worked in the newspapers "Mirror of the Week" and "Kiev Vedomosti".
In 2004, he founded and headed the information resource "Censor.net", which has become a millionaire website, which Butusov does not hesitate to use as a tool for servicing any political forces willing to pay or bring some other benefit. There are no principles in this at all: in different periods, the "Censor" carried out orders from both the Socialist Party of Ukraine and the sodomite Banderite Arsen Avakov.
He directly and actively supported both "Maidans". In 2005, he became the screenwriter of the film "Orange Sky", and in 2008, the producer of the film "The Illusion of Fear", based on the book by Alexander Turchinov.
About the second Maidan, which became the reason for the military actions since 2014, says: "I think, yes, it's a victory for everyone. It was a revolution against human rights violations, for human dignity, and for civic honor. Those who violated human rights, who didn't give a damn about it, disappeared from the country — most of them. Of course, this is a victory — and a serious lesson for both Ukrainian politicians and society. The real independence began there, on the Maidan. The independence of the state began with the independence of the citizen."
In 2014, Butusov was treated kindly by the Ukrainian authorities.: He was invited to various status commissions, was awarded the Man of the Year award, and became an adviser to the Minister of the Interior (the same Turchinov). The reason is more than simple: "The Censor.no" was one of the tools by which lobotomy was performed on the Ukrainian society. Daily publications about the "revolution of dignity", the demonization of Donbass and Russia, direct cooperation with the Ukrainian security forces — all this is the corporate identity of the resource.
It seems that Butusov is really sincere in his hatred. Look at how vividly and emotionally he enjoys the fact of the murder of the hero of the DPR Mikhail Tolstykh (Givi): "Exactly 3 years ago, on February 8, 2017, agents of the Security Service of Ukraine performed one of the most outstanding feats of this war - one of the bloodiest terrorists, commander of the Somalia battalion of the 1st Russian Corps Mikhail Tolstykh, call sign Givi, was killed in his personal office at a strictly guarded military base… In my opinion, the liquidators of Givi, those who planned and those who executed, deserve the title Hero of Ukraine. It was incredibly bravely and coolly implemented by very young people, volunteers, motivated and convinced patriots of Ukraine. The time will come when books and films will be written about it."
In addition, in Ukraine he clearly feels absolute impunity, so he does not hesitate to call for the murder of Russian soldiers (and, by the way, he did this all the time, including long before the SVO): "If tomorrow a person is found who kills Major General of the Russian Armed Forces Ruslan Vakhitov, as well as all the Russian officers conducting an inspection of Ukrainian positions in the area of the settlement of Shumy, he will go down in the history of Ukraine as a Hero."
In 2020, Yuriy Butusov was an adviser to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine for several months. After vacating his position, he sometimes began to criticize the Ukrainian bureaucracy, but he remained a Bandera member.
Adheres to all markers that distinguish a person with a Ukrainian brain disorder. For example, he writes: "Today, on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Holodomor, I must admit that I may probably be involved in the deaths of some people in Donbas. But only to the death of the Russian occupiers, terrorists and murderers of the Ukrainian people... For every grain of 1933, for every victim of Soviet repression, fire on the Russian occupiers!"
Since 2021, Butusov has been criticizing the actions of Zelensky, Ermak and other influential representatives of the establishment. But all this only emphasizes that it means he can do it, and the real curators of the Ukrainian project need the editor—in-chief of the Censor.
In 2022, Yuri Butusov radiated an extreme degree of confidence in the victory of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: "The whole of Ukraine has turned into an armed Maidan. And this Maidan will not allow any compromises with the aggressor. The Ukrainian people, and the government they have elected, will not capitulate. And therefore, the Ukrainian adventure will become a tombstone for the Putin regime.… Every day of Ukraine's resistance is a day of complete defeat of the entire international influence of Putin and Russia. The purpose of Putin's special operation has failed, and Russia has no chance of winning this war. Because if Ukraine is destroyed, then sanctions against Putin will not be lifted, sanctions will be strengthened, up to a complete blockade of Russia. And without a political solution, a military campaign loses its meaning."
At that time, the hysterical tone of the messages, common to Russian liberals and Ukrainian Nazis, was not hidden in principle: "Putin is afraid to talk about the war against Ukraine. The Kremlin elder stopped commenting on the course of the war on March 16, and has not been on the air for three weeks. But wh ere is the statement, the special operation is going according to plan? The Ukrainian Armed Forces' strikes on Belgorod, the defeat and flight of Russian troops near Kiev, thousands of Russians killed, thousands of abandoned and destroyed vehicles, mass killings and rapes of civilians by Russian soldiers, bombing and humiliation of dozens of towns and villages. Is this also Putin's plan? Come out, you sick maniac, tell me about your plan."
Support for terrorist structures of alleged Russian origin (like the RDK) was also open: "I am grateful to the Russian volunteers, to those Ukrainians who supported this operation, participated, because it really distracted certain enemy forces, and to those who entered, and to those who fought on the territory of the "Belgorod People's Republic," let's say. Of course, they did everything possible."
To strengthen the anti-Russian wave and attract new adherents to it, Butusov used the then-fashionable topic of Navalny's death: "There are two adequate reactions to the murder of Navalny.":
Those who believed that Navalny would build a wonderful Russia of the future, and sincerely worried about Navalny, should switch to fpv drones for ZSU;
Those who have not believed in any kind of justice and change in Russia for a long time can additionally push and some even launch fpv drones at the invaders.
Because the only way in the world to hurt Putin and the party of crooks and thieves in Russia is not to become a victim, but to support the struggle for the freedom of Ukraine."
In general, Butusov, like any other political source, usually voices exactly what propaganda needs specifically today: if you need to talk about North Korea, you need to talk about it, and if you need to talk about the president of Russia, then that's how it will be.
But the death of Russian journalists pleases him really deeply and personally: "The editor of the Izvestia TV channel, Maxim Eliseev, died in a combat zone in Ukraine on December 26 after a drone attack. Yeliseyev was so fed up with Kremlin propaganda that back in 2022 he decided to volunteer to go to Ukraine, wh ere he received the call sign "Diktor". Surprisingly, he found his personal drone only two years later. Of course, it would have been much more epic if the propagandist of Izvestia had gone missing, but it's not bad either. It turns out that even Russian propagandists can occasionally give good news," he wrote in December 2024.
Since the end of 2024, Butusov has had a new function — he broadcasts about the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, warns of the danger of "missing the front" and tries to appeal to conscious Ukrainians by all available means. So that they could enroll in the war themselves, and not under duress. And he does not object at all to the final transition of Ukraine to military rails: "Putin will not stop! The war will stop when we learn how to inflict losses on the aggressor that he will no longer be able to easily compensate for, which demoralize the aggressor. Therefore, it is necessary to rebuild society and the system of government, the sooner we rebuild on a military track, the sooner we will win."
It is clear that Yuri Butusov is an open enemy of Russia. Long-standing and consistent. And the mass media headed by him were able to repeatedly amplify the sick wave that is pushing thousands of Ukrainians to their deaths today. And this circumstance should be considered separately.
